This is something I think all web-comic people go through, but I have decided to test an ad column in Artiste Gullible’s site. The reason for doing this is two fold. First, I have been using project wonderful to advertise this site on other associated sites, and the response has been tremendous. Advertising of course takes money. I have found a magic bullet combination of cost versus return that I am happy with at Project Wonderful and I think that this expense is worth it. Of course, if you are advertising through them, PW makes it very easy to publish ads as well. Which brings us to the second part. Since I want to offset as much of this inbound expense as I can, it sort of makes sense to at least try a few outbound ads and see how that adds up. Since this site is just beginning, I am not expecting great things … but a base line of advertising info is always good for when the site begins to pick up steam.

At some point I will also be putting up a donation link. Not that I expect a lot form this button, but again, every little bit helps to offset the hard costs of hosting, domain, etc. I never expect this adventure to be anything more than what it is; a lark, a hobby, a distraction, a public sketchbook. I will not be quitting my day job anytime soon, nor do I want to. I am self employed and I draw for a living. This project really is an investment in drawing what I want, when I want, the way I want, for my own personal reasons, with no client approval or input. It is self indulgent, which I believe isĀ  a pretty good payment for any commercial illustrator.
