But really … I have a good excuse. As most of you know this comic is a sketchbook exercise of mine. It is also an escape, and a writing journal, a creative experiment and a lot of other things that make me feel good on the inside. For all of these reasons, (and more) I like to draw new things, or challenge myself to draw old things better. The idea of a furry based episode has been with me for while. The only problem was, I had never drawn furries before.

If you have to ask “What the heck is a furry?” I am not sure I can answer that. If it were as simple as a recipe I would say add three parts anime, with two parts Disney Duck tales, throw in a pinch of Heavy Metal story telling, a dash of cuteness, a handful of grit, and bury it in a clay pot on the side of a wind swept Japanese mountain top for 6 months. When you open it you would have something furry-ish.

In geeky counter-culture, furries seem to be the independent bane of existence. They are the butt of everybody’s joke and for some; the measure of how far geeky gone you might or might not be. (Example:)

In my MMORPG of choice, Furries are the target of countless griefing attacks but stand united against all odds. The bottom line is; Some people get their geeky grove on best when viewed through the eyes of an anthropomorphic rabbit. Not me, mind you (although I have been know to equip my avatar with fur, climb a tree and howl at the moon from time to time) … but some.

There are a lot of great furry artists. I am not one of them, therefore I wanted to try my best at atempting this particualr style. It goes outside of my comfort zone in multiple directions … so I struggled with this.

So there you have it. I am late because it was wan’t as good as I thought it should be … but it is the best it is going to get … this time around.

Love to hear what you furry lovers think.
