Huh? Not making any sense? Because of the nature of these little flash fiction vignettes, I thought it would be helpful to index previous back stories and journal entries. Although Artiste’s tales are non-linear, it can help to read some pages in groups by threads of associated content. Of course you could just read them randomly, and trust that it will all come together at some point.
The beginning back story is always a great place to start:
• The Artiste Gullible back story
For this particular installment it also may help to read:
• A Furry Kingdom

[image] A man in a very small boat tries to keep himself centered as a storm rages around him.
[text] “Keep center, and lean forward!” A voice screamed at me through the din of an oceanic squall. I had materialized on a small boat.
“W-w-where?” It was all I could manage as the boat began a slow crawl up the side of an enormous wall of water.
“A leviathan,” the man screamed back. “The ship sank within minutes. Some leapt to lifeboats, but they all perished; easy prey for the beast to pick off as they clustered in groups fighting the storm. I managed to climb into the captain’s dingy at the last minute. I’ve been hiding in the storm for three days.”
A preternatural shriek pierced the night, and echoed off the walls of the black modulating horizon. He looked at me.
“Are you a religious man? He didn’t wait for an answer. “If not, you soon will be.” He mouthed the words against the punctuating pounding of the storm; and then he was gone.

Wow, are you going to let us see the monster in some future installment? Got me hooked on what happens and how the story line follows. Great stuff!!!
Hmm…
When a “traveler” enters a new place/time, they seem to take the place of whoever was there before. In addition, most other sentient beings do not seem to notice the swap.
