Huh? Not making any sense? Because of the nature of these little flash fiction vignettes, I thought it would be helpful to index previous back stories and journal entries. Although Artiste’s tales are non-linear, it can help to read some pages in groups by threads of associated content. Of course you could just read them randomly, and trust that it will all come together at some point.

The beginning back story is always a great place to start:
• The Artiste Gullible back story

For this particular installment it also may help to read: (Something random?)

[image] A young woman in a top hat and glasses holds a rectangular device in her hands.

[text] The witch favored the newer shew stone design of rectangular liquid crystal. Her fingers made mad gestures over its flawless surface coaxing out the divinations buried between the ether of its multihued reflections. Ghost-like symbols danced across its spectral plane, first appearing and then disappearing as if she were swiping a table clean.

“Searching the ether is not impossible, but it is difficult.” Her eyes squinted and peered into the void. “Very difficult. I can see, but often the connection waxes and wanes … like trust in a stranger?”

I rolled my eyes, and placed another 3 silver coins on the table.

“Ahhhh …” she smiled. The light from the crystal brightening her face. “It is becoming clearer now.”

As her fingers flicked, the magic colors of blue, red, yellow, and green, cast back into her eyes. She asked, “Is there something specific you are searching for, or are you feeling lucky?”
