Huh? Not making any sense? Because of the nature of these little flash fiction vignettes, I thought it would be helpful to index previous back stories and journal entries. Although Artiste’s tales are non-linear, it can help to read some pages in groups by threads of associated content. Of course you could just read them randomly, and trust that it will all come together at some point.
The beginning back story is always a great place to start:
• The Artiste Gullible back story
For this particular installment it also may help to read: (Something random?)

[image] A portrait of a girl with tussled hair, goggles, and a steam tank on her belt. She has a tattoo and is looking towards the viewer. Over her shoulder there is a tree and in the distance a couple of small buildings.
[text] Perhaps it was the steam rising from her utility belt like snakes from a demon. Perhaps it was her shock of magenta hair that spiked in a dozen different directions. It may have been that her bosom was trussed-up like a turkey causing less than pure thoughts from the men, and envy from the woman. It may have simply been that she wore pants.
For whatever reason, She was bound, and gagged, and thrust into the storage room of the small Plymouth community house accused of witchcraft. Her name was Ginger, and her eyes widened when I slipped in the back door and freed her from her bonds, along with a few of the fledgling colony’s food stores.
We retreated to a small bluff overlooking the scene; watching the tableau of Pilgrims, and Wampanoag unfold before us.
“Thank you.” She said as she leaned over, and kissed me on the cheek. It was a true sign of gratitude on a day
dedicated to such things.
I waved my hand nonchalantly as if to say it was nothing, thinking to myself; I was headed for the store house to acquire dinner. To find desert sitting there as well, was just a fortuitous gratuity.

The best Thanksgiving Day story ever! Thank you.
Almost perfect… “dessert”
@Tim: Thank you so much! It is always the obvious ones I miss.
@Shaharw: Thank you as always.
Definitiely with Shaharw on this one
She looks just like a friend of mine…I had to do a double take and stare at her for a good 15 minutes. the resemblance is shocking.
Also, this is a wonderful story :]
Why was she trussed up, maybe they just read her tattoo
@ Danelle: Could be. It scared me the first time I saw that motto, I warmed up to it after I married the girl sporting it though.
All of these little stories and illustrations are amazing. I seriously feel like little dorky kid again because these were all the things I loved at that time.
Love it to bits.
Love the stories to death. With that I wrote I wrote a short little Blurp story. Setting him in the FE universe. I saw no other way to ask for permission to post it in the stories section of our forums exept for ask asking here. God Im long winded. May I post the story of the interactions between Artiste and Mao?
@Mao: Thank you for your kind words and for asking for permission. I don’t see any problem with a little cross pollination. Make sure you give a link back to the AG site. Also please give me a link to the FE Forum in question. I would love to peruse it!
1) Shouldn’t the transcript (provided for the benefit of the visually impaired) contain, for completeness’s sake, description of the tattoo itself?
2) The Pilgrim’s reaction to her may not have been because of tech or “witchcraft” — being barely removed from their British heritage, they may have had issues with her being a “ginger”
@Xheralt: What is it with the UK and gingers? No ginger Doctors, and now tying up people because of their hair color? Although her hair is actually a shocking shade of magenta, I am sure it has ginger roots. As for the tattoo, I sort of added it after the fact as a lark. I Did not see it as a integral component of the panel. But a lot of people have mentioned it so I probably should add it to the transcript. Thanks!
Didja use the girl featured here for inspiration/a model? I was amazed by the similarity (especially the hair!).
@ Matt Though not this shot, nor from this site, I believe this is the same girl. I stumbled across her on the internet and loved her hair. I made a bunch of changes to simplify things, corrected for lens distortions, and of course I added a lot. I wasn’t really going for a likeness (I don’t think it looks much like her original) as much as capturing her wonderfully natural yet chaotic twirl of the hair.
